Map of the Trails and some of the recommended routes
The most renowned of the mountain routes, so named by the locals for the rocky passages overlooking the sea of Positano. A comfortable and scenic path that connects Agerola to Positano, starting from the square of Bomerano right where the Divina Costiera B&B is located. This ancient mule track which has become an internationally renowned hiking trail, now has around three hundred thousand hikers per year. But its story begins with Italo Calvino and Lawrence, poets who first described it as a place rich in mythology and magic, where, traveling through it, one still experiences the impression of being suspended between "sky and sea", just like the gods ...
THE VALLEY OF THE MILLS, AND THE RESERVE OF THE IRONS
A general integral reserve was established between the Lattari Mountains due to the presence of prevalent species in the area. The Valle delle Ferriere is part of the reserve and is crossed by the iron-rich river Ceraso, from which the place takes its name. The path, however, does not end at the reserve, but the entire itinerary includes the option of first crossing the reserve, its rugged and natural valleys, where you can admire the Woodwardia radicans and the Salamandrina terdigitata, after which you will find yourself among the ruins of what is an integral part of the history of the ancient Amalfi republic: the paper mills. Following the crystal clear Ceraso river, you arrive at the town of Amalfi, finishing the walk in Piazza Duomo.
Pleasant “climb” to the Tre Calli mountain range that towers over the western valley of Agerola. The Tre Calli are named after the three small hills that follow each other on the western ridge of the mountain range surrounding Agerola. The route requires a good deal of effort for the uphill, which is rewarded by the enchanting panoramic view to be appreciated on reaching the 1,100 metres altitude; through the characteristic Mediterranean scrub you reach the Capo Muro plateau symbolised by its "Rock Mushroom", a pleasant place to stop and admire the beauty of the Gulf of Positano on one side, and the entire town of Agerola on the other. An excellent climb to do in the summer at dawn for its magnificent eastward display, and to enjoy the tranquillity that only the mountains can give.
Starting from the Divina Costiera B&B, you can take a route recommended for the more experienced, but the destination you reach is certainly the most spectacular; a climb that leads to the summit of Monte Molare (mnt. San Michele 1,444 metres above sea level), the highest point in the province of Naples. The Tre Pizzi is the mountain range that towers over the entire area of the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. The route crosses the chestnut groves of the Agerola Valley and climbs up to an altitude of 1,000 metres where it meets a beautiful centuries-old beech forest that opens the doors to the source of Acqua Santa, one of the only corners of the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrento Peninsula where you can find the remarkable carnivorous plant (Pignucola Hirtifolia).
The bay of Jeranto, a splendid walk through one of the hidden wonders of the Peninsula, crosses one of the only sites protected by the FAI on the Amalfi Coast. It is located in Massalubrense, a place of unspoiled beauty in front of the Capri stacks. In fact, the path can be travelled in a loop, starting from Nerano, and ending in Termini, or vice versa, passing through Punta Campanella, an outcrop that marks the "end" of the Peninsula, dividing the Campana coast into the two bays; Salerno, to the south, and Naples, to the north, with a distinctive view of the Isle of Capri lying directly before it.
Ancient stairways lead to the outcrop that divides the small valleys of Amalfi and Atrani. Inside the pine forest you skirt the cliff until you reach the path that leads to the free climbing point of the Ziro wall, literally overlooking Amalfi. The tower takes its name from "Ziro", meaning an ancient oil container used at the time. The tower was built in 1151 and home to one of the leading figures in the maritime history of Amalfi, Giovanna d'Aragona, better known as Giovanna la Pazza. The view to be enjoyed along the route is unique as it overlooks Atrani and Amalfi at the same time.
